Monte Sano State Park, Alabama State Parks

Qwest 1
The weekend after we purchased the pop up camper we had abnormally warm weather for the weekend. We decided to throw a few things together and take an overnight trip to Monte Sano State Park.  This gave us a chance to experience camping in the pop up camper before we started purchasing things for our camper. I am so glad we did that trip because we learned alot in just one night.

They placed us in a camp spot on the overlook, that provided privacy and was directly across the street from the bathhouse and one of the campground playgrounds. We had an amazing view  of the city. We also had easy access to bathrooms (which is essential when you are traveling with children). I will admit one of the things I was nervous about camping was having to use a bathhouse. Thankfully the ones at MoIMG_20151211_1646085_rewindnte Sano State Park were nice. They were very clean and in good condition.IMG_20151212_0908130_rewindIMG_20151212_1028365_rewind
Monte Sano State Park has quite a few hiking trails. We started our day with a hike to the to the Japanese House. It was really interesting. I am sure it would be beautiful in the spring when all the flowers are blooming. After the Japanese House We started the Sinks trail to hike the Stones Cut Trail but on the way down one of our children got to feeling sick so we decided it was best to turn back before we started a 3 mile hike.
So instead of hiking we went back and had lunch and packed up our campsite then went to visit some different areas around the park like the old railroad, playground and the overlooks. It was a great first camping experience. We will definitely be back to this park for a longer trip.
