We recently camped at J.P. Coleman State Park. This was our first time to arrive at a campground at night. Thankfully our site was easy to find and we were able to back in and get set up easily.
We stayed in Site 56. It was a premium site. It featured a paved pad, picnic table, fire ring, free standing grill, fire pit, full hooks and a water front view . We were also very close to the bathhouse and laundry facilities. We happened to be there on the same weekend as a fishing tournament so the campground was packed but every time we went into the bathhouse it was spotless and we were the only ones in there at the time.
We did some canoeing on the lake. We were able to get our canoe in and out of the water directly from our site. The area around the campground didn’t have alot of boat traffic so it was great for paddling.
There is a playground near the lodge and our children enjoyed playing on it.
Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend this campground. It is a very well-kept campground, with all the amenities to keep you comfortable.
